One tip to let your guests know that you'd prefer cash is through your parents, your closest friends and relatives. When guests asked them what would you prefer as a wedding gift, then they'll tell that cash would be more appreciated and mentions your plan of buying a house.

Simply write it on your invitation but, in an indirect manner. It's up to the guests to read between the lines. Still, be thankful for whatever you will receive on your wedding day.

Actually, it is improper to ask for a gift. You should wait until a guest asks and then tell them you are hoping for cash to help once the wedding is over.
