I've read that in old traditions the groom pays for the cake, but if you and your groom do choose to have a groom's cake (not all couples do), then it typically is incorporated into the overall cost (whether you or your parents or someone else is paying for the wedding).

Personally, I say skip the groom's cake unless he's insistent on having it. There's always cake leftover with just the wedding cake, so why add more? But, if you do go with it, then it's paid for by whoever is paying for the rest of the wedding.
