Its mostly up to you. What kind of music do you and your fiance like? If you guys like rock and roll, play that. If you like country music, go crazy with it!

Consider not only what kind of music you and your fiance love, but also what you believe will appeal to the guests at your reception. If there will be a wide range of tastes at the reception, you might consider a live band to play the style(s) of music that bride and groom most like, or that you think will appeal to the most guests, and then have a dj to play before, after, and during breaks, who will play all the styles of music the band does NOT play but that you think you or guests will want to hear. For instance, you are in Miami, you might want a Salsa band, and then have a DJ to play American top 40, including oldies but goodies for the more mature crowd, and more recent hits for the younger crowd. To the best of your ability, you want to have a balance of something for everyone, but at the same time not leaving too many people bored at any one time.
