No, it is not expected to give a gift at both a wedding shower and at the actual wedding. Depending on the type of bridal shower that may be thrown, two seperate gifts may be expected in that case. A bridal shower gift that may be more personal for the bride such as a kitchen shower or lingerie shower would be one goft and then any weddng shower gift for the couple would be seperate.

I love this question. Actually, it is improper to bring a gift to the wedding. It should be given at a shower or sent to the bride or groom beforehand. A shower is for the purpose of wedding gifts. Only one gift is given.
