Just saw our engagement shots and I don't like a single one! We're either awkwardly posed or the lighting sucks! There's $300 down the drain =( And we were suppose to use her for our wedding day as well! We're definitely finding another photographer, but I'm still afraid it'll be my wedding day pictures that I don't like! How do I know we'll have beautiful shots??

Oh no! Make sure you read reviews for your photographer before you hire them. And, I'd suggest asking to look at all the photos from at least one wedding they've done-- if only 2-3 pictures from the whole day are good, maybe they're not a great choice.

Have you already signed a contract with the photographer though? Be sure you aren't stuck or are going to lose a big deposit

I'm sorry to hear that, did you see the un-edited portion of the pictures? Or were they already prepared for viewing? If they were un-edited, give the photographer a chance to finish editing. Some engagement and even wedding shoots can be salvaged with the right skills in photoshop and such programs. We've fixed weddings and engagement pictures for a certain number of people and at least they left happier than what they came in. As another comment said, check reviews and more IMPORTANTLY: look at their work! And not just one sample, but at least 5. You wouldn't hire an un-experienced doctor for a heart surgery; don't do the same with a photographer.
