I am getting married in August and I picked a dark navy color for my bridesmaids. They are complaining about the color and how it isn't like a summer dress. What do you think? Should I change my color pallet?
Location: New York, NY

Stick with the color that you like, but you can make navy work for summer by choosing a summer cut and lighter material.

Try using bright accent colors, like yellow, in their bouquet and shoes to make the pallet seem more appropriate for summer.

You could stay with blue, but maybe choose a lighter shade. Or, you could choose a pattern to not make the dresses look too dark. For instance, you could go with a navy and white stripped dress, which is definitely for the summer.

You may need to take into consideration that in August in NY is very hot and dark colors keep warmth and your bridemaids could be very sweaty. You can stick to the navy with some straps or strapless, some light colors including gold and silver. You could also change the color too. Have you think about other option?

I say it's your big day, listen to their comments but at the end of the day, it is still your choice....don't let opinions sway you too much. Good luck from one bride to another!

You could have your color, but let the girls choose their dress style. Show them some pics of dresses you can steer them towards:)

Navy is a very very sophisticated color. Accents of yellow in hair pins/shoes/flowers can be used. Pinks go well. Medium Green goes well. Navy is the base for 100's of beautiful color schemes. If they are not crazy about the color, then choose the SAME color for DIFFERENT DRESSES. Make sure the dresses are all the SAME LENGTH. Have the styles fit their different bodies. http://www.charlestonweddingphotographers.com/ http://pinterest.com/charlestonphoto/boards/
